In the distance, the walls of the White Geology; up close, the clothes and shoes of the artist, finally the icing of the cake presented on a cake stand: a totally white world topped with a tiny little red spot, which slowly grows. Will we have the pleasure of tasting this cherry? The Untitled collective offers us the occasion to attend Asami Nishimura’s performance art, Cherry on the Cake. The public is confronted with an extraordinary change in an ordinary thing. Nishimura uses simple situations to overturn the codes governing our daily lives and shows us that our fantasies are necessary but passing escapes. Currently a student at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Paris, Asami Nishimura mainly uses performance as her media for artistic expression. Her work questions what is obvious about daily life and logical thinking, to bring its strangeness and doubt surging forth, while developing an extremely poetic bodily form of writing.
